Dr. Mills' work primarily focuses on examining the cognitive, social, and linguistic resources that school-age African American children draw upon to narrate, or tell stories. The overarching goal of her research program is to develop culturally fair assessment tools that capture the spectrum of language ability in school-age African American English (AAE)-speaking children.
