On April 25th, Dr. Obasi and affiliates, Dr. Liaw and Dr. Reed, spoke on the Community Dialog on Diabetes panel that was hosted by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson. Dr. Reed spoke about the impact of insulin costs on patient treatment. Dr. Liaw talked about how patients ration out their insulin because of the high prices and the serious complications of not taking their medication properly. Dr. Obasi vocalized the importance of free screenings to detect diabetes in the community, for those who can’t afford healthcare. The community's need for this this important preventative care is why he started project TOUCH.
