Dr. Ashika Brinkley is the Health Initiative Research Director for the Health Research Institute (HRI). She holds a Master of Public Health from Yale University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health from the University of Connecticut. Her Master’s thesis explored barriers to screening mammography in African American women, while her doctoral research explored the health beliefs, behaviors, and outcomes of Community Health Workers. Her previous roles have focused on addressing the social determinants of health, and health equity. She has held several roles in public health practice and practice-based research settings including serving as, an academic program director, Associate Professor of Public Health, and as the Executive Director of a state-wide Public Health non-profit association.
