Research Interests
My group studies the physics and applications of charge transport in biological and condensed matter systems. These phenomena include electron and proton transport in mitochondria, often called the "powerhouses of the cell." We have recently been collaborating with the Houston Methodist Research Institute to study how alterations in mitochondrial electron transport can increase aggressiveness of prostate cancer - a leading cause of cancer death that especially affects underserved populations.
